We knew Terry as the gregarious guy who sold comic books on the side via the internet. Five years ago, we wished Terry good luck, as he left the law school with plans to start a "bricks & mortar" comic book store in the Edgewater neighborhood.
In the current environment in which traditional bookstores have been undermined or replaced by online vendors. Terry has beaten the odds and become a bit of an entrepreneurial superhero.
A story in a recent "Printers Row Review", relates how Terry has developed an unconventional comic book store that's quite different from the one seen on the show "The Big Bang Theory". For one thing, there are women in the shop, in addition to the kids and the guys !
According to the article, Terry also sponsors karaoke challenges, a chili cook-off, and even knitting nights ! Hard to imagine that in your daddy's comic book store.
Besides selling a wide variety of comic books, graphic novels and art books, Terry has created a real community gathering place. A place where folks from different backgrounds and orientations, can all share their interest in "diverse superheroes and "girls who kick (butt)."
So, stop by the store and let Terry make his perceptive recommendations, to suit you own inner superhero (or villain).
