In mid-October, the Schiller DuCanto & Fleck Family Law Center hosted it’s second “Hot Topics in Child & Family Law” monthly lunch panel. DePaul College of Law Professor Deborah Tuerkheimer presented the topic, "SHAKEN BABY SYNDROME: CONVICTED CAREGIVERS & the INERTIA OF INJUSTICE.” Prof. Tuerkheimer is a leading expert on the criminal justice system's treatment of Shaken Baby Syndrome, a medical diagnosis of crime that has shifted in important ways. Her law review articles and NY Times Op-Ed are widely cited. Prof. Tuerkheimer's book about diagnosis will be published in 2014.
