The College of Law will kickoff the fall semester with its inaugural 1L Service Day on Friday, August 24, 2012, immediately following the law school’s orientation activities.
The service day is an opportunity for incoming first-year students to get to know their classmates, explore the city, and serve the community. Service opportunities include painting elementary schools, cleaning and organizing storage space at social service agencies, landscaping in public parks, working with seniors, and cleaning local beaches.
The Pro Bono & Community Service Initiative (PBCSI) is organizing the 1L Service Day, with the support of the Center for Public Interest Law, University Ministry in the Loop, the Vincentian Endowment Fund, and Office of Law Admissions.
First-year students should RSVP at pbcsi@depaul.edu or (312) 362-6202 by August 7, 2012. RSVPs will be accepted after August 7 if spots remain.
PBCSI will offer another service day for all law students on Saturday, September 15, and will host a service activities fair on Thursday, September 6. Look for more information about these events after the semester begins.
