On September 13, 2010, Visiting Artist Bernard Maisner, internationally renowned artist, calligrapher and fine stationer, discussed legal issues impacting him as an artist and small businessman with Professor Margit Livingston. He shared his experiences in the rarified world of calligraphy and fine engraved stationery, in which a few highly skilled and talented practitioners of this ancient and beautiful art compete for clients and recognition in both the custom and retail worlds. He commented on the specific legal challenges that he has faced, including threats of lawsuits from unscrupulous competitors, copyright, and business organization matters.
