Chief Judge Alex Kozinski, U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, discussed privacy issues during a recent lecture and reception hosted by the DePaul Journal of Art, Technology & Intellectual Property Law at the University Club of Chicago in October.
His lecture, “The Dead Past,” addressed evolving attitudes toward privacy in light of new modes of communication. He proposed that behavior such as increased public cellular telephone use and sharing information via social networking may narrow the legal standards regarding the expectation of privacy.
In addition to the lecture, Judge Kozinski served as a guest instructor for Professor Roberta Kwall’s Intellectual Property Survey course and met with members of the journal staff and Intellectual Property Law Society.
A wonderful venue, and an excellent presentation by His Honor. Kudos to all involved.
