Illinois Legal Aid Online (ILAO) will host a LiveHelp
training at DePaul next Wednesday, May 29th from 4 pm -6 pm . LiveHelp is an online
chat service available on the public, legal-information website, www.IllinoisLegalAid.org.

Prix Fixe (pronunciation rhymes with "bee cheeks" or "flea flicks") is French for "fixed price." It does not mean the restaurant has it out for you. It means that a predetermined meal, usually multiple courses including dessert, is offered at a set price. The advantage is the chef, flexing his or her culinary expertise, may create a meal with foods that complement each other, that you might not have thought to put together. (Which I appreciate, since all I know is that potatoes go with meat.)
Another term for prix fixe is "table d'hote" (rhymes with "hobbled goat" -- sort of). Table d'hote is French for "host's table." Same idea: set meal, set price.
The opposite is ala carte (rhymes with "wall apart"), French for "according to or by the menu." Ala carte means that each item you select has a separate price. If you want garlic mashed potatoes with your filet, that's going to cost you.
Now that you know the pronunciations and translations, try not to flaunt it with you dinner companions. That would be rude.
YLS North Avenue Beach Clean Up Event -May 23 The YLS Environmental Law Committee will be joining
the Alliance for the Great Lakes and Barefoot Wine and Bubbly for an
Adopt-a-Beach clean up event at North Avenue Beach on May 23, 2013, from
5:30-7:30 p.m. Volunteers will work in groups of three to collect,
sort, and classify the items found on the Beach. After the clean up,
Barefoot Wine and Bubbly will be hosting a celebration/networking event
with a free wine tasting at Castaways, 1603 N. Lake Shore Dr. (near
North Avenue Beach). To volunteer, email Joey Barnett.
